Grocery Store Assistant Manager

Position Overview As Assistant Store Manager, you are the right-hand to the Store Manager. You'll be trained to cover all aspects of store operations, achieve key performance and financial objectives, and lead performance planning. Location 6955 Garret Lane, Rockford, IL 61107 Benefits Healthcare benefits available on the first day! Annual bonus potential of 10%. Performance-based. 401(k) retirement plan with company match. Store hours Monday to Saturday 7AM-8PM and Sunday 9AM-6PM. Responsibilities Assist with the management of all aspects of store operations, including customer service, store condition, and the selection, training, supervising, and performance management of store sales associates. Assist in unloading all merchandise from delivery trucks, organize merchandise, and transfer merchandise from the stockroom to the store. Collaborate with team members to ensure the store meets or exceeds established merchandising standards for product quality, presentation, and visual marketing/merchandising. Keep up with reporting to support sales, earnings, and minimize shrink. Assume full management responsibility in the absence of the Store Manager. Qualifications & Requirements Two (2) or more years of grocery or retail management experience. Hands‑on leadership experience in grocery retail (e.g., Produce, Deli/Bakery, or Meat/Seafood departments) is highly preferred. Physical ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs with frequent lifting above shoulder height. Schedule availability to work a flexible, full‑time schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Minimum age of 18 years. High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of pre‑employment checks, including drug screen and criminal background check. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record per GFS policy.
