If hired for this position, you would be an employee of our partner agency, Community Family Advocates working onsite at Allegheny County DHS.SummaryThe Senior Appian Developer works within the Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Analytics and Technology (OAT). This role is responsible for working throughout the entire project life-cycle to define, design, develop and implement innovative business solutions using low-code platforms. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand our client’s business processes and technical needs.In this position, the Senior Appian Developer will collaborate with client teams (both technical and business users) to create efficient, scalable, and user-friendly applications.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAnalyze business processes to identify opportunities for improvement and automation using low-code development tools.Design, develop, and deploy business applications with a focus on user experience and process optimization.Create and manage automated workflows to enhance business efficiency and data integrity.Work collaboratively with Lead Engineers and Architects to translate high-level designs into functional solutions, providing valuable feedback on feasibility and trade-offs.Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code in alignment with engineering best practices.Participate in code reviews and integrate feedback to continuously elevate team standards.Regularly identify opportunities for code refactoring and performance optimizations, and champion these efforts within the team.Diagnose production issues, contribute to root cause analysis (RCA), and assist in identifying and mitigating technical debt.Support and enhance observability, monitoring, and alerting systems while contributing to automation initiatives that improve overall team productivity and developer experience.Mentor junior software engineers by sharing best practices and providing guidance on proficiency.Effectively communicate technical designs verbally, visually, and in writing for technical audiences of all sizes.Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure alignment of low-code solutions with business objectives and IT standards.Perform duties with moderate to low supervision and demonstrate a self-starter attitude.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.Additional ResponsibilitiesFrom time to time the employee will be required to perform additional tasks and duties as required by the employer.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesExcellent communication skills, a passion for technology and continuous learning.Strong planning and project management skills,Capacity to comprehend the architecture of a complex information system and to translate its use and implications to end users.Comfortable with handling large projects/system issues.Problem solving skills to analyze the nature and implications of issues presented by end users.Ability to manage multiple projects with numerous elements, while continuously setting priorities.Ability to work on a team; highly skilled in communications and team development.Excellent time management and organizational skills; can set priorities and accomplish a wide variety of tasks.Ability to take initiative and work with a high level of independence.Able to thrive in an environment that requires flexibility and multi-tasking.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
