River Park Hospital, a 165-bed facility and a leader in behavioral health care, located in Huntington, WV has an opening for a full-time day-shift and a night-shift Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). River Park provides acute inpatient services to children, adolescents, adults and seniors and features a 22-bed residential treatment program for children and adolescents and a 25-bed adult forensic unit.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will deliver quality nursing care to psychiatric adult, geriatric, adolescent and child patients. Key responsibilities include:

• Conducts ongoing and individualized nursing care duties as assigned and as dictated by the patient's condition in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
• Monitors for and reports change in patient physical or mental status.
• Collaborates with other team members in the development, implementation, and evaluation of an individualized plan of care.
• Administers patient medications as prescribed by physician.
• Provides education to patients on their prescribed medications, documenting this in the patient record.
• Documents shift observation of patients as assigned, following up on vital signs and accu-check results prior to dispensing medication.
• Transcription of medication orders in a timely, error free manner, and ensuring reason for PRN medication is documented.

Position requirements:

• Attendance of accredited vocational school for LPNs.
• Current State of West Virginia LPN license (or eligible).
• Current CPR/AED certification.
• Previous experience in behavioral health preferred.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and organization skills.
• Highly effective listening skills.
