Duties & Responsibilities

·       Cleaning and sanitizing all areas of the homes which include but are not limited to kitchen cookware, dishes, utensils, and countertops along with bathrooms, fixtures, and all surfaces.  A checklist will be posted in each home and must be reviewed every shift. 

·       Food preparation: including re-packaging, labeling, and dating all food to protect against spoilage.  The night shift will typically prepare all meals, sides and desserts for the next day.  Day Shift will pull food for night shift to prepare first thing in the morning.  You must follow the daily Menu prepared by the Administrator.  Small substitutions can be made if missing ingredients or ingredients can be borrowed from other homes when appropriate. 

·       Supervise and protect the residents while assisting them.  You must be familiar with each resident’s Assessment & Care plan and follow their individual plans every time you work with them.

·       You must be aware of each resident’s location at all times, whether they are in your sight or not. 

·       Night shift will complete room checks every 2 hours and visually make sure residents are safe.   

·       Administer and document medications, following the 6 Rights to Passing Medication (this guideline will be provided to you).

·       Conduct monthly required fire drills by following the checklist and documenting the results.

·       General housekeeping:  Each home should always be “tour” ready; this includes making sure all counter surfaces are clean, no food on the floor, blankets folded, chairs pushed in, matched placemats, blinds at the same level, patio swept, lift chairs are in the down location, carpeting vacuumed.  A checklist will be provided for these and other duties.

·       All guests should be greeted promptly and in a friendly manner to welcome them in. 

·       ADL care (follow checklist)

·       Completing and signing all reporting and charting documents, daily, weekly & monthly.

·       Providing companionship to residents is a priority and should be done at least once per shift.  In the event of downtime, you should be socializing with the residents.  Use of your phone or socializing with other team members is not permitted. 

·       Maintain a mindset of how you can help make the home the best place it can be for our residents, staff and guests.  Be “others minded” and treat everyone with respect.
