Grants Financial Analyst

The Grants Financial Analyst oversees the full lifecycle of grant funding across the organization, helping to maintain a full picture of all grant funding across the organization, strong financial stewardship, and alignment with programmatic goals. This position leads budgeting and fiscal management for multiple grants, monitoring for compliance with grant conditions and ensuring accurate and timely reporting that aligns financial data with program narratives. Through effective grant portfolio oversight, the Grants Financial Analyst ensures that all grants are tracked, compliant, and strategically utilized, while supporting organizational sustainability and informed decision-making.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Monitoring & Oversight: Review monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy Monitor and track grant expenditures against approved budgets and for alignment with internal and funder financial policies Forecast future funding needs and possible budget revisions Budgeting & Planning: Partner with program teams to develop and manage annual and grant-specific budgets, ensuring alignment with program objectives Collaborate with internal teams, including the development team, to build accurate project budgets and prepare compelling budget justifications for grant proposals Provide regular updates to program staff and Finance Circle on grant budget performance and projections, proactively identify funding gaps, budget concerns, or potential risks Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Ensure all grant-related activities and expenditures comply with federal, state, and funder requirements, as well as internal policies. Monitor overall grant performance and track deliverables and key deadlines to maintain compliance with grant conditions and ensure grant goals are met. Lead the preparation and review of financial and programmatic grant reports, ensuring reports are accurate and fully aligned with grant awards. Grants Administration & Organizational Support: Manage day-to-day grant workflows, maintaining organized and accurate grant files, records, and documentation. Develop and improve tools, systems, and processes that help staff understand and effectively manage grant budgets Play a key role in shaping how the organization plans for and utilizes grant funding Assist in the organization’s annual budget process Work within the Internal Operations and Finance Circles to develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure strong grant accounting and compliance practices Support funder site visits and audits and collaborate with the Finance Circle to provide documentation for organization’s annual financial audit

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in grant management, nonprofit finance, or related role Proven experience managing multiple grants simultaneously, including complex funding streams with varying restrictions Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and clearly communicate financial information to non-finance staff Excellent organization skills and ability to manage deadlines across multiple funding sources Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and support staff’s understanding of financial and/or technical information Intermediate to advanced proficiency in spreadsheet software, such as Microsoft Excel Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, nonprofit management, or a related field Proficiency in financial management software and grant/project tracking tools Knowledge of federal and/or state financial management systems, i.e., ASAP, JustGrants, Grants.gov, PMS, and/or IGX Knowledge of federal grant regulations, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) and other applicable funding requirements Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Experience working within a nonprofit social justice organization or familiarity with social justice work Experience working in a remote office environment Salary: $72,000 per year.
