Occupational Therapist

Occupational Therapy PositionPlans and conducts individualized occupational therapy programs to help patients develop, regain, or maintain their ability to perform daily activities. Teaches patients skills/techniques and how to use adaptive equipment for participating in activities. Studies, evaluates, and records patients' activities and progress. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Experience in fabrication of splints on upper extremities preferred. Hand therapy experience preferred.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesProvides initial occupational therapy assessment when requested in accordance with the patient's plan of care.Plans and administers prescribed occupational therapy treatment programs.Meets the patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results.Evaluates effects of therapy treatments by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress, providing medically necessary treatment plan and modifications.Corporate Culture ResponsibilitiesFollow established corporate and department-specific policies and procedures.Attend all corporate and department-specific required training.Uphold MCC's Purpose, Values, and Vision.Abide by MCC's Corporate Culture Responsibilities.Perform other duties as may be assigned cheerfully and willingly.Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesGood problem-solving skills.Good computer skills with ability to learn company or customer systems.Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding patient, employee, and company proprietary information.Displays customer services skills, strong interpersonal skills, close attention to detail, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.Physical Requirements Of The Essential Job FunctionsStrength (Lift/Carry/Push/Pull): Medium (lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.)Standing/Walking: Frequently; activity exists up to ¾ of the timeKeyboarding/Dexterity: Frequently; activity exists from ¾ of the timeAbility to look at a computer screen for extended periods.Ability to perform constant repetitive hands and finger motions.Ability to work in various positions (standing, sitting, bending, and walking) for extended periods of time during an 8-hour workday.Talking (Must be able to effectively communicate verbally): YesSeeing: YesHearing: YesEmotional Requirements Of The Essential Job FunctionsMust exhibit stable work behaviors daily.Must possess adequate individual coping skills.Ability to remain calm and professional regardless of workload or time constraints.Must be able to work under stress and remain calm and professional.Work EnvironmentWork in a fast-paced clinical environmentExposed to frequent and constant interruptions in daily functions/schedule.Must be available to customers and staff throughout the day.Required to work extended hours to meet deadlines and to participate in various assigned committees.RequirementsEducation/Experience RequirementsMust be a graduate of an accredited school for Occupational Therapy.Must hold specialty certification or licensure in Hand Therapy.State of Florida licensure.Minimum of two years experience in application of custom splinting pre and post-op orthopedic preferred.Minimum two years in adult rehabilitation; hand and splinting experience required.Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
