Post Doctoral Fellow

Post‑Doctoral Research Fellow – Musculoskeletal Biology Position within the Department of Physiology & Cell Biology, Novak Lab, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). Department & Research Focus The lab studies musculoskeletal biology and skeletal healing with a focus on the bone and cartilage healing microenvironment, immune cell interactions, signaling pathways, and transcriptional/proteomic changes. Multi‑omics approaches are used to identify novel molecular targets for advancing pre‑clinical findings toward clinical application. Position Summary As a Post‑Doctoral Research Fellow, you will conduct experiments using transgenic and knockout mouse models to investigate osteoblast and osteoclast differentiation, migration, and function during normal physiology, systemic inflammation, and fracture healing. You will also perform data analysis, prepare manuscripts and presentations, participate in grant activities, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams. Advanced training in musculoskeletal and skeletal biology research is provided. Responsibilities Conduct research activities under the direction of the Principal Investigator and collaborators in support of funded and proposed grant projects. Assist in developing and modifying research protocols, collecting background data, troubleshooting experimental approaches, and supporting ongoing research initiatives. Maintain accurate and detailed research records, including documentation of experiments and results. Ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards and maintain equipment records, maintenance schedules, and related documentation. Assist with preparing publications, presentations, grant proposals, and research amendments in accordance with institutional policies and federal regulations; may participate in research reviews, audits, and site visits conducted by sponsors or regulatory agencies. Attend seminars, trainings, and meetings as assigned. Perform additional duties as needed to support research operations and departmental goals. Qualifications Doctoral Degree (PhD) in a biological or biomedical field such as Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Genomics, or a related discipline.
