Smashing Dishes/Tony Caters seeks dynamic Cafe FOH & BOH Staff to assist at our cafés located at The Tech Interactive Museum in downtown San Jose and Winchester Mystery House.

Founded in 2009, Smashing Dishes and Tony Caters are flourishing and highly respected off-site catering companies producing extraordinary events and exceptional food service across the Bay Area. Our work includes traditional catered events, large-scale concessions-style food and beverage operations, and service at our two cafés located at The Tech Interactive Museum in downtown San Jose and the historic Winchester Mystery House.

THE ROLE

The Café FOH & BOH staff are primarily responsible for providing exception customer service, preparing and cooking meals for customers of the café and to fulfill catering orders sent offsite.

Pay rate is $22.00 per hour plus tips. Must be available to work on weekends.

CORE DUTIES & RESPONSABILITES

Core FOH Responsibilities:

• Greet customers with a friendly, professional attitude
• Calculate order totals, process card and cash payments
• Stock all grab n go items, salad bars, food items in a timely and efficient manner
• Maintain cleanliness of counters, work areas and overall cafe
• Organize and maintain inventory, including daily waste logs
• Complete daily cafe checklist of tasks
• Other duties as assigned

Core BOH Responsibilities:

• Ability to work under pressure and always maintain a positive attitude
• Ability to read order tickets and recipes in English
• Responsible for cooking and preparing all menu items in accordance with recipes, rules, policies, and standards set by Tony Caters
• Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment
• Prepare ingredients needed for recipes of menu items
• Wash dishes and operate the dishwasher to clean all chinaware, silverware and cooking utensils
• Stock and maintain supplies and equipment
• Perform cleaning duties including, but not limited to, mopping and removing trash
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Friendly and upbeat attitude is a must!
• Previous experience in cash handling
• Proven customer service ability
• Must be able to work WEEKENDS
• Responsible, accountable and task-oriented
• Must be able to speak and understand English, bilingual in Spanish a plus
• Must be able to work continuously while standing for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift, pull and push materials/products to complete assigned job tasks
• Qualified candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of this position satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation
