Unpaid Interns Fall 2026

Position Overview Intern in Judge’s Chambers or one of our Divisions (Civil, Criminal, Family, Probation, IT, Operations) within the Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem Vicinage. The internship covers the fall 2026 semester (tentatively September to December) and requires regular, onsite presence in all three counties; remote work is not an option. Division Responsibilities Assist with answering phones, returning phone calls, and receiving and distributing voicemails Contact and follow up with applicants and/or members of the public Perform special projects Conduct research and analysis Perform computer‑related work Collect and enter data Provide customer service Draft correspondence and memos Attend community planning meetings Organize and scan paper files, and upload into an electronic filing system Assist staff and perform other duties as directed Judge’s Chambers Responsibilities Prepare filings for judge and staff review, including document retrieval, and providing documents to chambers Conduct research Analyze data Draft memoranda Prepare paperwork and process legal documents Participate in team projects Data entry and filing Observe legal proceedings Calendar management Moderate virtual hearings Physical Requirements Applicants must be able to climb, stand, stretch, bend, and reach frequently. The candidate must repeatedly lift and carry supplies weighing 30 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, materials up to 75 pounds. Driver’s License A valid New Jersey driver’s license is required only if vehicle operation is necessary for duties. Authorization to Work US citizenship is not required. The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US under Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations. Background Check Unpaid interns who are 18 years of age or older must undergo a thorough background check that includes fingerprinting. All data will be kept confidential except to inform the individual of the findings and any resulting action. Academic Eligibility Undergraduate students attending an accredited college or university are encouraged to apply.
