Clinical Nurse Coordinator Emergency Room

Mission Health, a leading healthcare provider based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for our Emergency Room to support our mission of delivering advanced, compassionate care to the community. In this role, you will function as both a clinical expert and a frontline leader, coordinating patient flow, ensuring high standards of evidence-based nursing practice, and supporting the daily operations of a fast-paced emergency department. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator Emergency Room collaborates closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient care, prioritize safety, and enhance the overall patient and family experience. You will provide direct patient care, oversee triage and acuity-based assignments, support staff during high-volume or high-acuity situations, and serve as a resource for complex clinical decision-making. You will mentor and coach nursing staff, assist with onboarding and ongoing competency validation, and model effective communication, teamwork, and professionalism consistent with Mission Health’s culture. Responsibilities include monitoring quality metrics, supporting performance improvement initiatives, assisting with staffing and scheduling needs, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and organizational policies. You will participate in emergency preparedness, help coordinate responses to critical incidents, and advocate for best practices in areas such as pain management, sepsis recognition, stroke and cardiac protocols, and trauma care. This position requires strong critical thinking skills, confidence in rapid assessment and intervention, and the ability to remain calm and organized under pressure.
