SUMMARY

The Campus Safety Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that a safe learning and working environment is maintained through orderly conduct, safety, and security of site buildings, grounds, and equipment, and authorization of access and departure from facilities. The Campus Safety Supervisor facilitates required trainings and professional development for job and organization safety standards, and serves as a quasi-supervisor of all safety staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Monitor campus activities and events; uphold all campus and district rules and regulations. Keep staff informed of policies and regulations applicable to student conduct, public conduct, and safety and use of district facilities. Build positive relationships with students and staff; support a positive campus climate. Escort disruptive students from classroom to administration office; supervise students awaiting interventions. Supervise, coordinate, and oversee all daily, after‑school, and non‑school activities of all safety staff. Participate in mandatory district/local in‑service training programs. Conduct new‑hire interviews and selection; provide feedback on safety staff evaluations. Assign and collect keys for campus employees at the beginning and end of the school year; take ID pictures and print IDs for all staff and students; register all student and staff vehicles and distribute parking decals. Conduct monthly fire drills, lockdowns, and reverse evacuations; submit monthly reports to district offices; conduct building safety inspections and check fire extinguishers; implement safety plans and exit routes for emergency situations. Provide in‑service training to all safety staff on policies, procedures, safety techniques, and other safety standards. Serve on the site safety team and incident command team to ensure proper development and implementation of emergency response plans. Maintain liaison with law enforcement agencies and other human services agencies. Maintain daily logs, analyze site trends, and submit reports to appropriate administration; recommend strategies to provide a safe and secure campus. Direct safety staff in emergency response situations as required. Deescalate physical and verbal altercations; participate in investigations of serious incidents and student misconduct. Coordinate and assist in facilitation of student mediation programs. Create a cohesive safety team using team‑building strategies and resources. May assist safety teams at other district sites as needed. Support the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintain absolute confidentiality of work‑related issues, client records, and school information; follow governing board policies; perform all other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines: High school diploma or GED equivalent; minimum five years of proven work experience in a safety and security related role or law enforcement; minimum five years of proven experience supervising others; experience developing and facilitating job family training and professional development; must be at least 21 years of age. License and Certification Requirements: Valid Arizona State driver's license; current first‑aid certification and CPR certification at time of employment or within first 60 days, maintaining current status; active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP fingerprint clearance card or obtain within first 90 workdays. Skill in following and enforcing safety policies, procedures, and practices. Ability to identify safety hazards and suspicious persons on campus. Ability to maintain and analyze necessary records. Knowledge of pertinent laws related to district policies and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including interacting tactfully and courteously with the public. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed throughout school campuses and requires exposure to various weather conditions, potential physical harm, contagious illnesses, and bodily fluids. Physical ability to perform all essential functions.
