Full Stack Java Developer – The CSMS ProgramThe Full Stack Java Developer – The CSMS Program is responsible for developing, maintaining, enhancing, and supporting the Comprehensive Servicing and Monitoring System, a long-standing HUD accounting and servicing application.CSMS is a mature, mission-critical federal software system with a browser-based interface and enterprise Java architecture. The application environment includes Java/Jakarta EE technologies and related components such as JSF, JPA, EJB, AJAX, SQL, XML, JSON, web services, and Oracle-backed business workflows. The system is used to support HUD servicing, accounting, reporting, operational, and compliance functions.This role requires a developer who can work across the full application stack, understand complex business logic, resolve defects, implement enhancements, support releases, and collaborate closely with product ownership, QA, database, configuration management, infrastructure, and security teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, maintain, and enhance enterprise Java web applications using Java, JSF, PrimeFaces, and related technologies.Design and implement front-end user interface components using JSF, PrimeFaces, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AJAX, XML, and JSON.Develop and maintain backend business logic using Java EE / Jakarta EE frameworks and enterprise application patterns.Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database-backed business workflows.Develop, consume, and support RESTful web services and APIs.Troubleshoot production issues, analyze root causes, and implement stable defect resolutions.Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, sprint planning, and release activities.Collaborate with Product Owners, QA analysts, DBAs, infrastructure teams, and security teams to deliver production-quality software.Support regression testing, data validation, release readiness, and post-deployment verification.Assist with build, deployment, and configuration management activities.Maintain technical documentation, implementation notes, and deployment procedures.Ensure compliance with federal security, accessibility, and operational standards.Contribute to modernization initiatives, technical debt reduction, and long-term application maintainability.Qualifications:Experience Requirements5+ years of professional software development experience.Strong experience developing enterprise Java web applications.Hands-on experience with Java, Java EE / Jakarta EE, JSF, and PrimeFaces.Strong SQL and relational database experience.Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML, and JSON.Experience developing and consuming REST APIs and web services.Experience troubleshooting and resolving production defects in enterprise applications.Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.Experience working in Agile or collaborative development environments.Ability to work effectively with QA teams, DBAs, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Work EnvironmentConstantly operates a computer and uses other standard office equipment such as a phone, calculator, photocopier, and computer printerFacility to see and read a computer screen and printed matter with or without visual aidsOccasionally lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 15 poundsThis role is Hybrid/Remote-friendly – Silver Spring, MD 20904Technical EnvironmentThe developer should be comfortable working in an environment involving many/any of:Java EE / Jakarta EEWildFly / JBossJavaScriptHTML / CSSXML / JSONSQLRelational databasesWeb services / REST APIsHibernate / Spring Boot / Spring MVCJira / CIntelliJ IDEA / Eclipse / NetbeansFederal production hosting environmentsSecurity, compliance, and review processesEducation RequirementsBachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).Professional experience in lieu of education accepted.U.S. Citizenship is necessary due to federal contract requirementsCompensation & BenefitsSalary Range: $110,000 - $137,000 annually with significant performance-based bonus potential.Comprehensive Benefits Package:Medical, dental, and vision insuranceLife and short-term/long-term disability insuranceExceptional 401(k) retirement planGenerous vacation and holiday leaveEducational assistance programThis is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking organization where your leadership and technical expertise will drive enterprise-wide impact.
