The right RT should have 1 year of recent acute care experience. Read below for more requirements. Responsibilities As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide direct patient care to patients in a variety of clinical areas, including evaluations and treatments according to procedural guidelines. Administer a variety of simple and complex respiratory and cardiology modalities to patients. Maintain appropriate patient records and documentation. Clean, disinfect, assemble, calibrate, and maintain respiratory and cardiology equipment and accessories. Evaluate equipment for proper and safe function and report malfunctions to director. Perform arterial puncture and analyze sample according to procedure guidelines. Interact with co‑workers, nurses, physicians, and other hospital personnel to optimize continuum of care for patients being treated. Respond to emergent situations that could require respiratory support. Respiratory Therapists should be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, or stoop without difficulty, and be able to lift up to 20 pounds comfortably. Moving or lifting of patients may require lifting up to 50 pounds at times. Therapists must have specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
