Senior Fire Protection Designer

Job Summary This position is responsible for independent deliver y of BIM and CAD design services for fire protection systems, such as Wet, Dry, and Pre-action, from conceptual design through construction completion with a proven track record of excellence Essential Duties and Responsibilities Execute fire sprinkler project design responsibilities independently, ensuring high-quality sizing and layout of piping systems and equipment. Perform complex hydraulic calculations and system layouts for both new construction and retrofit fire sprinkler projects. Utilize AutoCAD, AutoSPRINK, and BIM software to develop precise 2D and 3D models and drawings. Create accurate spool drawings with clear labeling and dimensions to facilitate construction feasibility and pre-fabrication. Conduct field engineering and site surveys to assist with trade coordination, scheduling, and real-time problem-solving. Manage the systems submittal and approval process in collaboration with project management and field staff. Oversee document management by processing trade partner backgrounds and maintaining files on network servers and share sites. Use Bluebeam and other markup tools to coordinate design changes and communicate constructability challenges to the project team. Ensure all deliverables meet ACCO BIM standards for quality and clarity before preparing packages for formal transmittal. Maintain project schedules and deadlines through effective time management and professional collaboration with all stakeholders. Position Requirements (Work Experience, Skills, Licenses, etc.) Excellent understanding of fire protection fundamentals and constructability, system, and equipment types, building code and industry standards Proficient basic computer software skills (Windows Explorer, Word, Excel, Gmail) Advanced knowledge and/or experience with BIM software such as AutoCAD and AutoSPRINK Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent 8+ years of experience in a similar role Desired Education and Experience Technical associate or bachelor's Degree preferred NICET II certification or higher preferred ACCO Competencies Proactivity/Initiative: Recognizes what needs to be done and accomplishes it in a manner appropriate for one's level/position and with minimal supervision. Job Responsibility Level No direct reports Travel Requirements Travel required 0-5% of the time to other office locations. Hours This is a non-exempt position from Monday through Friday. Work hours begin and end between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm with a one-hour break for lunch and two breaks. The employee is regularly required to walk and sit. Competitive Wages $39 - $55 per hour.
