About the Role

The Company is seeking a General Counsel to establish and lead its legal function, with a strong focus on commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, and strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to, commercial agreements, corporate governance, employment issues, and international expansion. A key aspect of the role is to ensure the company's legal strategies align with its mission, particularly in holding data brokers accountable for noncompliance with consumer data privacy laws. The General Counsel will also be instrumental in interfacing with enforcement bodies and advocating for consumer data privacy rights. This is a unique opportunity for a mission-aligned legal professional to make a significant impact in the privacy tech movement. The ideal candidate will have 8-15 years' of legal experience, with a background in both a top-tier law firm and in-house at a technology or privacy-focused company. Strong expertise in U.S. consumer data privacy law and regulatory frameworks is essential, as is a proven track record of working with regulatory agencies. The role requires an excellent communicator, negotiator, and a passionate advocate for consumer privacy. Responsibilities also include managing outside counsel, developing internal legal processes, and potentially building a legal team. The General Counsel will work closely with the executive team and the Board of Directors, and will be a key advisor on legal, regulatory, and risk matters.
