Press Operator IIThe Southern California News Group (SCNG) is seeking a Press Operator II to join the team. This role will introduce you to reel room operations and general tasks, such as run sheet comprehension and roll identification. You will be responsible for identifying and preparing rolls to run on the press, general housekeeping, press cleanup, and maintaining the necessary tools. Additionally, you will be introduced to setting ink, plating up the press, and webbing the press.What you will do:Analyze imposition run sheets to accurately determine the required roll sizes for press runs, planning and preparing rolls for multiple concurrent jobs on your assigned shift to optimize press efficiencyConduct thorough roll inspections, identifying any damage and preparing rolls for use by applying double-sided tape and constructing running paster patternsBecome proficient in reel operation through hands-on training and consistent practiceAdhere to safety procedures at all times, maintaining a safe and organized work area throughout your shift, including sweeping, mopping, and managing oil and debrisContinuously develop your troubleshooting skills and expand your knowledge of press operations to diagnose web failures, identifying the root causes of breaks and unit malfunctionsActively participate in press setup and cleanup, providing guidance and support to colleagues as neededCommunicate effectively with team members and management regarding work processes and any issues that ariseGain a comprehensive understanding of the web path and demonstrate proficiency in running the pressWhat you will bring:Prior production and/or manufacturing experience required; prior printing press experience preferredAbility to stand, bend, climb, reach, and kneel repeatedly during an 8-hour shiftStrong verbal and written communication skillsSpecific vision abilities, including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focusHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED)Benefits and Compensation:The hourly wage is $23.00 - $26.00.
