The CHEF’STORE Sales Associate helps maintain an atmosphere of superior customer service, promoting the US Foods strategy: Great Food, Made Easy. As a key member of our team, you will fill a variety of roles, including Cashier, Stocker, and Customer Courtesy, and must be passionate about service and model this behavior in all aspects of job performance. During a shift you will be assigned to any of our departments, depending on customer and/or business needs. At the direction of store management you may work in any or all of the following areas: Front end of the store: selling merchandise and assisting customers through the checkout process. Sales floor: Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment & Supply departments. Replenishing freight and rotating product in any department. You may also assist during special store events, such as Vendor Fairs, sales floor resets, and inventory processes. Mandatory Mandatory Mandatory (not mandatory). We help YOU make it! The starting rate is $16.49/hr Looking for flexibility to work Monday – Sunday based on business need between the hours of 5:00am and 7:00pm. Must Work Weekends Freight Handling a plus! Essential Duties And Responsibilities Front End Ensure all customers have an impeccable CHEF’STORE experience by developing and maximizing relationships with the store’s customers. Perform sales and cash functions in the POS efficiently and accurately. This includes scanning merchandise, utilizing scan gun or keypad, weighing product on countertop scales when necessary, and looking up any product that will not scan. Verify each item’s barcode is accurately reflected in the system and report discrepancies to Front End Lead or Manager of Day (MOD). Perform cart‑to‑cart transfer of all products at checkout, including a visual inspection to look for product tampering. Verify cart content versus purchases as a receipt checker before customers leave the store. Perform store opening and/or closing functions at the front end based on assigned shift. Sales Floor and Stocking Focus on increasing sales and managing shrinkage. Work with customers to help them find products and make them aware of all available services. Assist in receiving inventory shipments and maintaining and stocking shelves neatly and orderly while ensuring proper rotation and product quality audits. Report low stock levels to store management. Ensure all merchandise is properly labeled, including blaster tagging unscannable items, applying catch‑weight labels to pound‑sold items, and affixing PLU tags to produce. Replenish sales floor daily by down‑stocking freight from top stock, following FIFO. Use reach trucks and pallet jacks as needed. Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and proprietary software as needed. Ensure products are easily accessible, visually appealing, and constantly available. Assist with price changes as directed by the Pricing Lead and Store Management. Assist in opening and closing duties of the store. Participate in inventory and cycle count process as needed. Customer Courtesy Maintain a safe environment for staff and customers by following safety policies and practices. Notify management of any safety issues. Ensure cleanliness of sales floor, front end, and restrooms. Use cleaning equipment as needed. Clean the parking lot and store entry area. Collect carts from the parking lot and cart corrals and return them to the assigned area, ensuring they are clean and operable. Assist with other duties as assigned or required by Store Management. Supervision N/A Relationships Internal: interact with employees at all levels of responsibility throughout the company. External: interact with customers and other service and product providers. Work Environment Work is performed in a retail store setting open to the public. Exposure to outside weather conditions which can include inclement weather. The noise level is usually moderate. Work is typically performed on a level surface; ladders or working on an elevated surface may be required as needed. Temperature ranges from -10 to 85 degrees. Physical interaction with customers required. Minimum Qualifications Minimum 6‑12 months retail cashier and/or stocking experience required. Minimum one year retail selling and/or customer service experience preferred. Basic computer skills, cash handling experience, and proficiency using general office equipment. Education High School Diploma or equivalent work experience required. The expected base rate for this role is between $13 and $21.
