Systems EngineerOur client, located in River North, is hiring a Systems Engineer to assist with the administration and maintenance of our Linux hosting environments. In this role, you will work closely with our infrastructure, release, and development teams to maintain and improve our performance, security, and uptime standards. Reporting directly to our Infrastructure Architect, this is an exciting career opportunity for a self-starting and resourceful professional.Our client is one of the leading providers of software to manage R&D and innovation, and has a client base that ranges from Fortune 500 firms as well as leading education institutions.Our client's team is highly collaborative, technical, and creative. This role will give you hands-on experience with the design and operation of a modern microservice-based SaaS application.Responsibilities:Administration and maintenance of our hosting infrastructure located across 3 continentsRedundant LAMP stack setup, maintenance, and troubleshootingUse and maintenance of automated configuration management and deployment systemsResponse and resolution of service issuesAssist developers with systems-related issuesQualificationsRequirements:Excellent verbal and written communication skillsEffective communication and collaboration with internal teams and external clientsExperience running Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP, Ruby, or PythonExperience with desktop support, client services, or other user interactionExperience with automated configuration deployment and systems scriptingA documented history of hard work and engineering excellencePreferred:Understanding of TCP/IP, DNS / BIND, LDAP, SMTPExperience with KVM, AWSExperience with information security: standards certification, auditing, and pen testingProven success in high-growth startup environmentsBachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science
