HVAC Applications Engineer

job summary:
An HVAC Applications Engineer is needed for a leading OEM. The HVAC Application Engineer is responsible for serving as a technical subject-matter expert supporting Sales, Business Development, and Customers in designing and deploying advanced cooling solutions. This role focuses on solution architecture, technical credibility, and risk mitigation throughout the sales and delivery lifecycle. You will translate customer requirements into competitive HVAC solutions and influence engineering standards across the organization.

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering alongside at least 5 years of progressive HVAC experience, ideally in mission-critical or data center environments. Strong expertise in HVAC design, controls, and troubleshooting is essential, as well as the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences. Candidates should also possess solid analytical skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and a willingness to travel for key customer engagements. This is a remote role with 25% travel.

responsibilities:
· Serve as the lead technical expert alongside Sales during pre-sales engagements, customer reviews, and proposal development

· Analyze customer requirements to design optimal HVAC system architectures, configurations, and control integrations

· Review and validate system designs, shop drawings, and floor plans to ensure technical accuracy and code compliance

· Participate in high-impact site surveys, system startups, and commissioning oversight for complex projects

· Provide expert troubleshooting support for advanced system anomalies and complex application challenges

· Create technical documentation, application notes, and training materials while mentoring cross-functional engineering teams
