Position Summary: This position provides direct nursing care to residents and delegates and supervises the care provided by our Quality-of-Life Specialists/Resident Assistants. Primary Responsibilities: * Receive and give report at shift change for LPN/RN and CNA. Make Rounds. Report all deficiencies to the Director of Nursing. * Count and sign off on narcotics at the beginning and the end of shift. * Pass medications, documenting on Medication Administration Record (MAR), and notifies Director of Nursing of any incomplete documentation. * Apply treatments, lotions, dressings, etc. as needed, documenting in treatment record. * Document on residents per protocol. * Notify family and physicians of change in resident condition and as necessary. * Monitor dining room during meals, ensuring all necessary staff are present. * Replenish supplies for the medicine cart, medicine room and resident rooms. If there is a shortage, orders through central supply personnel. Qualifications: * Must have valid NC or compact state LPN/RN license with no substantial findings of abuse, neglect or misappropriation of resident property. * Minimum of 3 months' experience as a LPN/RN preferably with elderly care. * Comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles and practices. * Ability to observe changes in resident's condition and act accordingly. * Ability to demonstrate understanding, patience, tact and courtesy in dealing with employees, residents, family, visitors and volunteers. * Ability to supervise staff and maintain good working relationships among personnel. * Ability to cooperate with other health professionals and to coordinate efforts toward maximum resident care. * Ability to recognize problems, make decisions and solve problems. * Ability to demonstrate sound judgment in emergency situation.
