Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a registered nurse (RN) for a Neuro Medical Surgical Acute unit located in Peoria, Illinois. The candidate will be responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, brain tumors, and head injuries. Candidates are required to bring their active Illinois nursing license on the first day of assignment. The position involves night shifts and requires previous experience working on a dedicated neuro unit, level 1 trauma experience, and travel nursing background.

Job Details:

• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
• Start Date: 06/08/2026
• Certifications: BLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Experience: Must have at least 1 year of nursing experience, including level 1 trauma experience and prior travel experience (no first-time travelers), with specific experience working on a dedicated neuro unit.
• Required Qualifications: Active Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, BLS (AHA), NIHSS, and at least 1 year of nursing experience.
• Additional Information:
  • Charge nurse available 24/7; nurses will not take assignments unless short and above ratios.
  • House supervisor available 24/7.
  • RNs may troubleshoot high flow oxygen devices for COVID-19 patients when stable.
  • Housewide telemetry monitors (Phillips) in use; nurses do not need to read strips.
  • No scrub color requirement; tattoos must be covered; piercings limited to ears.
  • Two days of unit-specific orientation including computer training, with a preceptor.
  • Every other holiday scheduled off.
  • Float in rotation with rest of staff, only performing skills competent to do when floated outside of general unit.
  • Submission requirements include the last four digits of SSN, middle initial, requested time off, and confirmation of license status.
