The Health Disorder Mental and Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child & Adolescent Mental Health Counselor to join our team of professionals. This full-time position will be primarily remote, allowing for flexibility while focusing on providing exceptional mental health services to our young patients. The counselor will play a crucial role in fostering the emotional and psychological well-being of children and adolescents in the Albany, New York area.

Work Environment\nThis position offers a remote work setting, enabling counselors to manage their schedules effectively while still providing critical mental health support. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional evening shifts required based on patient needs. Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Conduct thorough mental health assessments to identify the individual needs of children and adolescents, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of their personal and familial contexts. \n
- Develop and tailor individualized treatment plans that consider the unique developmental stages, challenges, and family dynamics of each young patient. \n
- Provide a variety of evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), play therapy, and family therapy, to effectively address mental health concerns. \n
- Facilitate family therapy sessions to empower parents and caregivers, equipping them with the skills needed to create a nurturing and supportive home environment. \n
- Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, including child psychiatrists and other health professionals, to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach to treatment. \n
- Respond to mental health emergencies and provide crisis intervention as necessary, demonstrating a calm and effective approach in urgent situations. \n
- Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, available treatment options, and community resources to empower them in their treatment journeys. \n
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA and ethical guidelines, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems. \n
- Engage in ongoing professional development through participation in team meetings, case consultations, and continuing education opportunities. \n
- Stay current with the latest research and advancements in child and adolescent psychiatry to provide informed and up-to-date care. \n
You will primarily serve children and adolescents facing a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral disorders. Your role in understanding and addressing the unique needs of this demographic is vital in helping them navigate challenges during formative years.
Qualifications\n- \n
- A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution. \n
- Current license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker - R Privilege (LCSW-R), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Psychoanalyst, or Psychologist in the state of New York. \n
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated compassionate and client-centered approach. \n
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and a strong familiarity with remote counseling tools and technologies. \n

- At least two years of post-licensure experience in providing mental health services, particularly to children and adolescents. \n
- Experience delivering family therapy and group sessions, with a focus on developing effective therapeutic modalities. \n
- Strong knowledge of child and adolescent mental health disorders as well as evidence-based treatment strategies. \n
The salary for this position ranges from $100,000 to $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
