ATTORNEY SUPERVISOR

Responsibilities range from ensuring the safety of food service, maintaining the integrity of real estate transactions, furthering the transparency of condominium governance, and of course, overseeing the qualifications of licensure that ensure work requiring a skilled professional is performed safely and sufficiently. DBPR’s stakeholders include these professionals and their customers alike. Under the direction of Secretary Melanie S. Griffin, DBPR oversees many of Florida’s professions and industries in the areas above, and many more which can be seen on our website: The Work You Will Do: The Attorney Supervisor position is responsible for overseeing attorneys who perform administrative prosecutions for violations of construction and electrical licensing law. This includes violations of Chapters 489 and 455, Florida Statutes, as well as various other practice acts. The Attorney Supervisor assigns cases and provides guidance to supervised attorneys regarding the law, strategic approach, and prioritization. The selected candidate will be responsible for analyzing and communicating case management and progress goals and monitoring work product. Your Specific Responsibilities: * Provides training and guidance to attorneys within the Construction Industry Licensing Board Legal Unit; * Performs all required tasks related to supervision of employees including attendance and leave approvals, employee evaluations, recruitment and selection, employee development, and employee support and motivation; * Analyzes investigations for violations of statute or administrative rule for regulated professions;
  • Recommends appropriate action, including finding of probable cause;
  • Drafts administrative complaints and closing orders;
  • Presents recommendations to probable cause panel;
  • Prosecutes administrative complaints at the Division of Administrative
Hearings or before the department's designated informal hearing officer or Board; * Determines if emergency action including licensure suspension or restriction or remedy in circuit court is required; * Conducts other civil and administrative litigation on behalf of the state agency in all judicial forums as requested and required by law. Minimum Requirements:
  • Membership in good standing with The Florida Bar; and
  • At least two years of experience in the practice of law; and
  • Valid Driver's License.
