TITLE: Contractor Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY

I. Duties & Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to the following: 

• Provides leadership and accountability for safety, environmental compliance, and regulatory adherence in all assigned activities. 
• Supports and emphasizes the importance of safety and environmental programs and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements. 
• Promotes a strong safety culture through active participation in field observations, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action development. 
• Supports emergency response activities and severe weather preparedness initiatives. 
• Ensures company resources are utilized in a safe, responsible, and cost-effective manner. 
• Develops and executes plans to accomplish maintenance, outage, construction, capital project, and plant improvement activities. 
• Coordinates interfaces between Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, contractors, vendors, and support organizations. 
• Plans work activities, assembles resources, and ensures effective execution of assigned projects and outage scopes. 
• Coordinates outage scope development, work prioritization, schedules, resource requirements, and readiness reviews. 
• Tracks project and outage milestones, budgets, risks, schedules, and performance metrics. 
• Reviews and provides input on changes to work plans, schedules, and resource allocations. 
• Supports budget preparation and monitors budget compliance. 
• Ensures contractor and vendor activities support plant objectives, responsibilities, and contractual agreements. 
• Approves contractor expenditures and service-provider invoices as required. 
• Ensures constructability reviews are performed for applicable projects and modifications. 
• Provides guidance and support for maintenance, reliability, outage, and capital project activities. 
• Reviews drawings, specifications, procedures, scopes of work, and technical reports. 
• Develops scopes of work and supports evaluation of contractor proposals and technical solutions. 
• Leads or participates in cross-functional teams, outage teams, project teams, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
• Gains cooperation and action from individuals not under direct supervision through collaboration and influence. 
• Communicates information effectively to all levels of the organization regarding project status, outage readiness, equipment issues, and work progress. 
• Collects and analyzes data to develop reports, presentations, metrics, graphs, charts, and recommendations. 
• Monitors equipment health, reliability trends, and plant performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities. 
• Supports Asset Integrity and Strategic Maintenance initiatives and long-term asset planning activities. 
• Evaluates equipment performance and develops recommendations to improve reliability, availability, and maintainability. 
• Leads or participates in troubleshooting, root cause analyses, failure investigations, and corrective action development. 
• Incorporates lessons learned, maintenance analysis findings, and industry best practices into maintenance and outage strategies. 
• Supports run-repair-replace evaluations and long-term asset management decisions. 
• Initiates and participates in continuous improvement planning and implementation within assigned areas of responsibility. 
• Recognizes problems and proactively develops and implements solutions. 
• Supports employee development through teamwork, communication, accountability, engagement, and technical knowledge sharing. 
• Develops and maintains positive working relationships with plant personnel, contractors, vendors, and support organizations. 
• Monitors goals, objectives, and initiatives supporting reliability, operational excellence, and outage readiness. 
• May be required to direct the work activities of others. 

II. Requirements

A. Knowledge/Skills

• Understanding and ability to use TRACK and SAP for optimizing resource loading and scheduling
• Basic understanding of the processes, systems, assets, resources, key personnel, and business functions of the SBU
• Knowledge of power plant systems and operation consistent with level of responsibility
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team environment
• Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) at all levels of the organization
• Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals
• Demonstrated sound business skills necessary to accomplish assigned tasks
• Ability to use a personal computer and standard business software
• Ability to perform as a team member or leader in a cross-functional team environment and achieve consensus decisions
• Ability to read, create and follow written policies and procedures
• Ability to read, write and understand English
• Ability to understand and interpret drawings and specifications in area of responsibility
• Knowledge of and ability to apply industry and NRG standards and codes in area of responsibility
• Ability to use basic math and algebra to perform calculations
• Comprehensive working knowledge of construction/maintenance practice and procedures
• Knowledge of the bargaining unit agreement (CBA)
• Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations

B. Education/Experience

Minimum of Baccalaureate degree in an Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or 5 years of equivalent experience in a related field

III. Working Conditions

• Normal office environment and/or power plant environment
• Requires operation of a motor vehicle, Texas Driver’s License
• Work overtime and non-standard working hours, as required
• Requires occasional travel, as needed
• Occasionally requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.

• May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals
• Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect or collect data on plant equipment 
• Requires operation of a personal computer
• Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
