Licensed Practical Nurse

Responsibilities Provides and delivers quality patient care within an assigned unit and recommends clinical quality improvement efforts. Performs diagnostic tests according to established protocols and procedures. Performs patient assessments, vital signs, administers medication, and provides wound care and emergency first aid. Maintains necessary clinical records, collects data, and prepares reports on activities. Provides individualized treatment plans, interventions, and administers medications as directed by Health Care Practitioners. Collaborates with other healthcare team members to implement a plan of care and educate to maintain health and prevent complications. Attends mandatory training sessions and staff meetings as needed. Assists with basic clinical tasks, including supporting other designated areas in the facility as needed, in coordination with leadership to ensure continuity and quality of care. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Performs other duties as assigned to support FCH’s goals, objectives, and values. Qualifications Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing. Certifications: Current LPN licensure within the State of Georgia; BLS certification prior to employment. Preferred Experience: One (1) or more years of nursing experience in a clinical/medical setting; experience working in a correctional facility. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Public health and diagnosis of individuals; adherence to patient care protocols; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced correctional healthcare environment; positive, collaborative working relationships; strong judgment, discretion, confidentiality, flexibility, and integrity; quick assessment of medical emergencies and implementation of interventions; independent and team work; strong decision‑making under pressure; attention to detail; strong written and oral communication skills. Physical Requirements Must lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds; ability to stand, walk, sit, and read for prolonged periods; ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and hand‑based work; ability to perform tasks requiring endurance and flexibility in a correctional setting. Work Environment Correctional healthcare environment with exposure to noise, communicable diseases, controlled access areas, and unpredictable conditions. Employees must comply with safety, security, infection control, and emergency response protocols.
