Employment Law Compliance Specialist

Standard Job Description The Employment Law Compliance Specialist will conduct investigations for both internal and external complaints relating to Lockheed Martin's compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws and regulations, as well as support the company's defense of employment disputes. The Specialist may respond to agency charges and complaints, and assist with litigation and other actions for which the Employment Law Center of Excellence is responsible. Standard Job Description The Employment Law Compliance Specialist will conduct investigations for both internal and external complaints relating to Lockheed Martin's compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws and regulations, as well as support the company's defense of employment disputes. The Specialist may respond to agency charges and complaints, and assist with litigation and other actions for which the Employment Law Center of Excellence is responsible. This role will not be responsible for overseeing litigation but will support the attorneys responsible for that function. This position requires an understanding of equal employment opportunity laws, regulations, concepts, and practices. The selected candidate must have experience conducting internal or external employment law investigations. Experience supporting employers in administrative agency proceedings or in state and/or federal courts on employment law matters is desired for this role but not required, as is experience handling employment law matters from their inception as internal or external complaints through the agency process to resolution. Responsibilities include conducting employment law compliance investigations, contributing to analyses to identify trends, and supporting efforts to potentially reduce complaints and mitigate risks. The Specialist will also contribute to trend analyses and collaborate with internal stakeholders in legal, the Business Areas, and HR to determine appropriate corrective actions when needed. Specific Responsibilities Include Conduct impartial, thorough, and timely investigations of complaints involving race, ethnicity, religion, color, sex, national origin, age, US military veteran status, ancestry, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, family structure, genetic information, or mental or physical disability, as well as compliance with other internal and external requirements. These will range from routine to moderately complex and include interviewing company personnel as a neutral fact finder, reviewing personnel documents, and analyzing employee data in a timely manner. Prepare written reports and summaries of findings, with supporting documentation, that are fair, impartial, and represent the facts Respond to agency charges, and support litigation when necessary Draft Position Statements for submission to external agencies for review by senior team members Provide information to and attend discipline review committee meetings to present investigation findings when necessary Liaise with Business Area leads and HR to convey findings resulting from investigations Support the centralized tracking of internal and external employment law-related investigations, complaints, inquiries, and charges across the enterprise Assist in responding to external inquiries and charges relating to employment law compliance Conduct research and analysis to contribute insight into legal trends as they relate to internal and external employment law-related concerns Support training efforts relating to employment compliance topics This position may require travel. Close proximity to major Lockheed Martin facility preferred, may require onsite presence. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Knowledge of principles and practices of investigation and research, including interview techniques, principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting, research techniques, and data collection Familiarity with federal, state, and local laws, as well as court decisions and trends, regarding discrimination, harassment, and retaliation Critical thinking and the ability to analyze information in relation to internal policies, applying them to various situations Experience conducting internal or external employment law investigations. Experience preparing well-written investigative reports with supporting documentation Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting information received from investigations Exercises sound judgment, including the safeguarding confidential and sensitive information Performs detailed work with accuracy Must be able to travel as required Desired Skills Exposure to employment law compliance work within a mid-to-large employer Experience supporting employers in administrative or legal proceedings relating to employment law Experience interacting with government agencies at the federal, state, or local level Ability to work collaboratively in a virtual team setting Personal accountability, willingness to learn, and commitment to continual improvement Professional and clear communication style Strong organizational and analytical skills Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities Familiarity with AI tools relating to legal analysis and responding to employment law-related concerns and inquiries Ability to work effectively across departments and functions Strong written and verbal communication skills Demonstrates integrity and sensitivity Familiarity with online case management systems supporting this function (i.e., COMET) Experience in Labor Relations preferred Pay Information GeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States. Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role. Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 1): $111400.00 - $206800.00 Includes metropolitan areas such as Sunnyvale CA; Pal Alto, CA; New York City metropolitan area; Newark, New Jersey; etc. Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 2): $100200.00 - $186200.00 Includes metropolitan areas such as Denver, CO; King of Prussia, PA; Stratford, CT; Moorestown, NJ; etc. Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 3): $89100.00 - $165500.00 Includes metropolitan areas such as Dallas–Fort Worth, TX; Orlando, FL; Grand Prairie, TX; Marietta, GA; etc. Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 4): $80200.00 - $149000.00 Includes metropolitan areas such as Camden, AR; Lexington, KY; Lufkin, TX; etc. At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people. Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics. For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays.
