Data Center Mechanical Engineer

Salary: $110,000 - 150,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• We seek at least five years of professional experience in data center design, maintenance, and operations, with a strong emphasis on design.
• We need a solid understanding of power distribution topologies such as distributed redundant, block redundant, and catcher/reserve configurations.
• We expect strong knowledge of data center mechanical systems, including chilled water systems, HVAC systems, humidity control, hot/cold aisle containment, raised floors, and overhead air distribution.
• We require working knowledge of relevant building codes and standards, including the International Mechanical Code and ASHRAE guidance.
• We value hands-on experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis.
• We need familiarity with key data center engineering concepts, calculations, containment strategies, capacity planning, oversubscription, and failover analysis.
• We expect knowledge of common data center equipment such as chillers, pumps, CRAC/CRAH units, DX systems, humidification, UPS, generators, switchgear, DC plants, PDUs, STS, batteries, and VFDs.
• We require experience using AutoCAD, BlueBeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• We need the ability to travel to sites across the United States after hire.
• We expect willingness to work outside normal hours for outages, maintenance, and similar activities.
• We require strong technical writing, documentation, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• We value leadership capability and a collaborative mindset for cross-functional work.
• We need the ability to self-manage, prioritize, and deliver multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, distributed environment.

• We provide engineering support to our Colo Engineering, Construction, Facilities, Operations, Sustainability, and Sales teams.
• We review equipment submittals and RFIs for construction and procurement activities.
• We help develop complex Method of Procedures and Sequence of Operations for facility systems.
• We perform site and data hall capacity analyses and support customer audits and sales RFP documentation.
• We support startup, commissioning, and integrated systems testing, including review of commissioning scripts and risk mitigation for critical infrastructure.
• We assess energy conservation and efficiency improvement initiatives for both new and existing facilities.
• We create conceptual designs and prepare design specifications aligned with our Basis of Design standards.
• We direct third-party consulting engineers to produce designs that comply with our technical standards.
• We review interior and exterior CFD studies and guide consulting firms to optimize mechanical system performance.
• We review and approve MOPs through our change control process to reduce operational risk and protect personnel safety.
• We work with Procurement to specify and select equipment for our stocking program and customer needs.
• We represent our company in project meetings as needed.
