Coding Educator

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Coding Educator based in the United States.

This is a remote healthcare education role focused on improving provider documentation and medical coding quality.
You will use coding expertise, data analysis, and provider education to identify opportunities for better documentation and compliance.
The role combines analytical work with direct engagement, including educational sessions, presentations, webinars, and occasional onsite provider visits.
You will analyze coding trends, audit findings, and large datasets to identify risk areas and develop targeted educational interventions.
Working with provider-facing and cross-functional teams, you will help strengthen documentation, data integrity, and operational workflows.
The position offers an opportunity to apply medical coding knowledge to Medicare risk adjustment and value-based healthcare initiatives.
Success requires strong communication, analytical thinking, presentation skills, and the ability to translate complex coding concepts into practical guidance.

Accountabilities

• Arrange and deliver educational sessions for assigned healthcare providers focused on improving documentation quality, coding accuracy, and quality of care.
• Identify provider education needs by reviewing reports, coding trends, audit results, and other relevant performance data.
• Develop comprehensive reports and presentations covering coding quality trends, risk areas, educational activities, and outcomes.
• Use data visualization and analytics tools to interpret large datasets and communicate meaningful insights.
• Conduct provider education onsite when required and support webinars, presentations, and other educational formats.
• Analyze coding audit results to identify recurring errors, documentation gaps, compliance concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop data-driven educational materials and targeted interventions based on identified coding and documentation patterns.
• Collaborate with provider-facing teams and other internal stakeholders to improve documentation, data integrity, and workflow processes.
• Monitor coding quality and compliance against applicable internal and external standards.
• Support Medicare risk adjustment initiatives by applying knowledge of HCC coding and relevant CMS-HCC methodologies.

Requirements

• AHIMA or AAPC CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification.
• At least 3 years of experience in medical coding education or healthcare coding auditing.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare risk adjustment, including HCC coding and the CMS-HCC Model Version 28 .
• Proficiency with data analytics and visualization tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar platforms , with the ability to interpret large datasets.
• Experience analyzing coding data, audit results, and performance trends to identify patterns and develop actionable recommendations.
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with healthcare providers, leadership, and other audiences.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to explain technical coding concepts clearly.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with provider-facing and cross-functional teams.
• Must reside in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, or Tennessee .
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required due to occasional travel to surrounding provider offices.
• A bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Experience with value-based care, primary care, Medicare risk adjustment, and healthcare provider environments is preferred.
• CRC (Certified Risk Adjustment Coder) certification is preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications is preferred.
