Full Time Must Be Able to Work AM & PM Shifts Rotating Weekends and Holidays Taking Patient Orders and Delivering Trays Overview Barnes‑Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation’s top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The Department of Food and Nutrition serves patient meals, retail, and catering across both campuses. The role supports patient nutritional needs, customer service, and training of new employees. Role Purpose Ensures that patients receive the correct diet as ordered, screens for food allergens and modified diets, assembles and serves meals, and trains new Patient Dining associates. Requires ServSafe certification and passing a Patient Dining test within 90 days. Responsibilities Has knowledge of all special/modified diets; assists patients/families with meal selections. Reviews tray tickets, assembles meals, delivers meals, and retrieves soiled trays; monitors inventory and maintains proper stock levels. Demonstrates standard work processes and meal delivery standards; mentors and trains new associates. Communicates pertinent information to nursing staff, production staff, supervisory staff, and patients/families. Teaches safe food handling, infection control prevention, and basic computer software applications. Maintains alertness and performs duties in a safety‑sensitive manner.
