Position Overview

NuWest has an urgent need for two experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurses for a 13-week travel contract in Sidney, Montana. RNs in this role will provide comprehensive perinatal nursing care across Labor & Delivery, Newborn, Postpartum, and Nursery. This is a rapid response need with an immediate start date candidates must be ready to mobilize quickly. Holiday coverage is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intrapartum nursing care throughout all stages of labor, monitoring maternal and fetal status and interpreting fetal heart rate patterns.
• Assist with vaginal and operative deliveries, supporting the clinical team throughout the delivery process.
• Deliver immediate newborn assessment and stabilization care in the delivery room and nursery setting.
• Provide postpartum nursing care, monitoring maternal recovery and supporting physical and emotional well-being following delivery.
• Educate and support patients and families on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
• Respond to obstetric and neonatal emergencies, initiating rapid interventions and coordinating with the care team.
• Ensure safe transitions of care across the Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery units.
• Maintain compliance with unit protocols, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Montana.
• Minimum one (1) year of recent Labor & Delivery experience with demonstrated competency across Labor, Newborn, Postpartum, and Nursery.
• Required certifications: BLS/BCLS, NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E.
• Holiday coverage required; must be available for callback with a 2-hour minimum response.
