Unit Tech Level II Oncology

General Purpose of the Job To Provide general clerical, equipment and patient care support to patient care units. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintain utmost level of confidentiality at all times. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures. Demonstrate personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines. Clerical duties: respond to communication devices such as phone, vocera and call bells; complete basic entries into the electronic medical record; record patient data in EMR; transcribe written orders. Room/Patient care/Equipment management: stock supplies; check for expiration dates; order supplies; clean equipment; clean toys. Infectious material exposure: transport blood‑borne pathogen or other patient specimens; pick up blood from blood bank and deliver to the unit; spray surgical instruments with enzymatic cleanser; prepare/transport them for processing; package or move infectious waste containers for disposal; provide in‑room support for patients on airborne precautions. Patient care support: measure, record and empty urine collection devices; empty bedpans/commodes; reinforce established education material or room orientation with patients and families; transport patients off unit for tests/procedures; discontinue Peripheral IVs; obtain point‑of‑care specimens (urine, wound, stool, throat and nasal). EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Graduate from a Nurse Aide School. CERTIFICATES, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION Nurse Aide Certification. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) continuously maintained (transition to AHA upon first renewal after onboarding with AHA or Red Cross CPR). Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) or other DHS deemed relevant course equivalent within 6 months of hire and maintained continuously thereafter. #J-18808-Ljbffr
