Senior Property Accountant

We’re recruiting for our client in the commercial real estate industry seeking a Senior Property Accountant to take ownership of the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This position offers broad exposure across property-level accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, tenant reconciliations, and operational finance. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, experience managing the financial activity of multiple properties or entities, and the ability to work independently while partnering closely with Property Management, Asset Management, and Operations. Responsibilities Manage the full-cycle accounting and month-end close process for an assigned portfolio of commercial real estate properties. Prepare and review journal entries, general ledger activity, and account reconciliations. Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual property-level financial statements and reporting packages. Perform detailed account analysis and budget-to-actual variance reporting. Prepare and review CAM, real estate tax, insurance, and other tenant reconciliations. Manage property-level accounts receivable, tenant billing, collections, accounts payable, and cash activity. Support annual property budgets, forecasts, and ongoing financial analysis. Account for tenant improvements, leasing commissions, capital expenditures, and other property-related activity. Prepare bank reconciliations, lender draw packages, ownership reporting, and other required financial reports. Maintain and reconcile fixed assets, depreciation schedules, security deposits, escrow accounts, and restricted cash. Review lease documentation and ensure tenant charges, recoveries, and other financial calculations are accurately reflected. Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and complex property-level accounting issues. Partner with Property Management, Asset Management, and Operations teams to provide financial insight and support property performance. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and internal efficiencies. Assist with special projects and other accounting initiatives as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. 4+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred. Property accounting, commercial real estate accounting, or other relevant real estate experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience managing month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting for multiple properties or entities. Experience preparing CAM, tax, insurance, or other tenant reconciliations preferred. Experience with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with accounting and operational teams. #J-18808-Ljbffr
