Senior Mental Health Counselor (may underfill as Mental Health Counselor) (CCS Service Facilitator)

Job Overview Waukesha County's Department of Health & Human Services is recruiting for a Senior Mental Health Counselor (may be underfilled as Mental Health Counselor). This position will join the CCS Service Facilitator team in the Coordinated Services Division, providing service facilitation and psychosocial rehabilitation services to youth enrolled in the DHS 36 Certified Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) program. The role will collaborate with a team that includes clinical supervisors, service facilitators, mental health professionals, psychiatric prescribers, social workers, vendors, and education providers. Applicants should have knowledge of mental health and alcohol and other drug use services as they pertain to youth and families, strengths-based treatment, culturally responsive services, psychosocial rehabilitation, recovery principles, and client-centered planning. Previous experience providing case management for youth with mental health and substance use disorders is preferred. Work Schedule Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with some evening appointments to accommodate youth and family schedules. Limited remote options available. Senior Mental Health Counselor Classification Salary range (2026): $30.32 – $42.11. Minimum Training & Experience Requirements (Senior) Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work, psychology or a closely related field. Two years of professional experience in mental health, including 1,000 hours delivering services to chronically mentally ill individuals and their families. Or: Bachelor’s degree with at least four courses in sociology, social work, or psychology; three years of professional experience in mental health (1,000 hours). A master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience. Valid driver’s license. Mental Health Counselor Classification Salary range (2026): $27.49 – $38.19. Minimum Training & Experience Requirements (Counselor) Bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work, psychology or a closely related field, or four courses in those fields plus one year of professional experience in mental health. Valid driver’s license.
