We are looking for an experienced and approachable HR Generalist to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, likes being visible and accessible to employees, and is comfortable balancing day-to-day employee needs with broader HR initiatives.

Position Summary

The HR Generalist supports employees and managers across a wide range of human resources functions, including employee relations, recruiting and onboarding, benefits, performance management, training, HRIS administration, leave administration, and compliance.

This role requires someone who can build strong relationships at all levels of the organization while maintaining confidentiality, exercising good judgment, and consistently applying company policies and employment practices.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and will enjoy being an active, hands-on HR resource rather than working solely behind a desk.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary HR resource for employees, supervisors, and managers regarding policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace concerns.
• Build strong relationships with employees and maintain a visible HR presence throughout the facility.
• Provide guidance to supervisors and managers on employee relations, performance, attendance, disciplinary matters, and policy interpretation.
• Assist with employee investigations, documentation, corrective actions, and other employee relations matters.
• Coordinate recruiting activities, including job postings, applicant screening, interviews, pre-employment requirements, and offer preparation.
• Manage the onboarding process for new employees and help ensure a positive new-hire experience.
• Conduct new-hire orientation and assist employees with benefit enrollment and HR systems.
• Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS information.
• Assist with employee status changes, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and separations.
• Support employee benefit programs and assist employees with benefit-related questions and issues.
• Coordinate leave administration, including FMLA, ADA-related matters, and other applicable leaves.
• Support workers' compensation administration and employee injury reporting.
• Assist with performance review processes and manager follow-up.
• Coordinate and track employee training and development initiatives.
• Assist with employee engagement activities, communications, recognition programs, and company events.
• Monitor attendance and other employee-related reporting and assist supervisors with appropriate follow-up.
• Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
• Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives across SMT and The Rise Companies.
• Perform other HR-related responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in an HR Generalist or similar role.
• Manufacturing, industrial, construction, or other hourly-workforce HR experience strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of employment laws and HR practices, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, and employee relations.
• Experience handling sensitive employee relations matters with professionalism and discretion.
• Experience with recruiting, onboarding, benefits, performance management, and HRIS systems.
• Experience with Paylocity is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Comfortable interacting with employees at all levels of the organization, from the production floor to senior leadership.
• Ability to remain objective, professional, and confidential when handling sensitive situations.
• Strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HR information systems.
• SHRM-CP, PHR, or other HR certification is a plus but not required.
