Responsibilities Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel as required by state licensure requirements. Ensure adherence to departmental and patient treatment schedules, timely clinical and billing documentation, and work‑related meetings. Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and other relevant meetings. Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs. Consult with the rehabilitation team to select the most appropriate therapeutic regimen consistent with each patient’s needs and capabilities. Adapt program and/or plan of care according to the individual patient’s needs. Promote a safe environment and enforce elimination of fire and safety hazards. Order supplies and equipment as necessary. Clean, maintain, identify, and report the need for repair of equipment as necessary. Prioritize patient service: ensure that patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights. Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures; synthesize information and interpret findings to establish a diagnosis, identify impairments, and plan a treatment approach. Develop appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with the patient and caregivers; implement the physical therapy treatment plan and complete all related documentation. Provide services including therapeutic exercise, functional training, manual therapy, airway clearance techniques, integumentary repair, electrotherapy, physical agents, mechanical modalities, health and wellness, education on chronic disease management, falls assessment and interventions, and case management in the home and community. Design, fabricate, fit, and train patients in the use of adaptive devices, including orthotics and prosthetics. Select appropriate activities suited to the patient’s physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interests. Instruct patients in skills and techniques required for mobility activities and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitative potential. Perform routine reexaminations to modify/progress treatment plans as needed. Incorporate health and wellness programming into treatment plans for patients. Perform home and community mobility assessments and provide recommendations for safe mobility in the home and community spaces. Performs other related duties as required. Qualifications Valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice or proof of license eligibility. Master’s degree in Physical Therapy or a Master’s in a related field plus a Bachelor's in Physical Therapy. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy plus five years of progressively responsible PT experience. Physical Therapy degrees earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated as U.S. equivalent. Valid driver’s license or reliable, independent transportation to and from patients’ residences.
