Description: Job Title: Lead Technician (Service Vehicle Driver) Reports to: Operations Manager Employment type: Seasonal / Per Diem Estimated Pay Range: $25.00-$27.00, plus eligible stipends, monthly bonuses, and end-of-season bonuses. Start Date & Schedule: Start Date & Schedule: Preseason training includes up to 5 hours of virtual training. In-season work is weather-dependent , with no traditional weekly schedule- we work when it snows and often for several days following a storm. Hours vary based on storm activity, operational needs, and availability, with shifts of up to 16 hours per day and overtime as needed. At JMC, our work goes beyond clearing snow-we remove dangerous snow and ice buildup from the tops of tractor-trailers before those trailers return to the road, using ladders, snow shovels, and specialized safety equipment to help reduce the risk of snow and ice coming off moving trailers and creating hazards for other motorists. As a Lead Technician, you\'ll be part of a mobile team that travels throughout JMC\'s service area based on where winter weather creates the need, working alongside a Supporting Technician(s) and other team members at customer locations. You\'ll serve as the driver of the company service vehicle and take overall responsibility for your assigned route and team, including safely transporting your team, navigating between service locations, keeping the team on schedule, responding to changing conditions, and communicating throughout the route as needed. Routes may involve extended travel, changing destinations, and driving in winter conditions based on storm activity and operational needs. Working in teams typically consisting of 1-3 technicians, you\'ll take an active role in each service, with team members rotating responsibilities throughout the job. This includes accessing trailer tops, removing accumulated snow and ice, assisting teammates from the ground, preparing and handling equipment, and helping maintain a safe and efficient work area. Lead Technicians work closely with Supporting Technicians and other team members to follow JMC\'s established procedures and safety standards at every location. As the Lead, you\'ll also help coordinate the team throughout the route and ensure completed services are accurately documented through our digital platform, providing consistency and accountability across each job. During larger snow events, travel may extend throughout our service area across 14 Northeastern states. Your team will rely on you to get them where they need to go while helping ensure each route is completed safely and efficiently. Requirements: Job Requirements: This is a seasonal/per diem, weather-dependent position. Must be comfortable working outdoors in cold weather and varying winter conditions. Must have open availability during snowstorms and for several days following a storm. Must be at least 21 years old to operate JMC service vehicles. Must possess a valid driver\'s license and meet JMC\'s driving requirements, including completion of a DMV driving record check. Must have previous experience driving in snow and varying winter weather and road conditions and be comfortable operating a company service vehicle for extended periods in winter driving conditions. Must be comfortable working at heights of approximately 13 feet above the ground and using ladders. Must be physically capable of safely performing the essential functions of the position, including lifting at least 40 lbs. Must be willing and able to travel based on storm activity and operational needs. Responsive Communication: Because our work is weather-dependent and schedules can change quickly, timely and responsive communication is essential-both during scheduled work hours and while off duty when coordinating upcoming work and travel. Must have a reliable smartphone for clocking in/out, receiving work-related communication, navigating routes, and documenting completed services through JMC\'s digital platform. Qualifications: Previous manual labor or other physically demanding work experience is a plus. Previous experience working outdoors in cold or winter weather is preferred. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Able to take responsibility for an assigned route, adapt to changing conditions, and help keep the team organized and on schedule. Able to work independently, make sound decisions in the field, and provide day-to-day route leadership with limited direct supervision. Dependable, flexible, and able to adapt as weather conditions and operational needs change. Positive attitude and calm demeanor in challenging or changing situations. Strong attention to safety and willingness to follow and reinforce established procedures and direction. CDL is a plus but not required.
