Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to obstetric patients through labor, delivery, and postpartum stages.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using continuous or intermittent fetal monitoring; interpret findings and escalate as needed.
- Assist with labor and delivery procedures, vaginal births, and cesarean deliveries; support neonatal resuscitation per NRP guidelines.
- Administer medications and analgesia per orders; manage IV access and fluid therapy as indicated.
- Collaborate with obstetric team, physicians, anesthesia, and ancillary staff; document care accurately in the medical record.
- Maintain patient safety, infection control, and patient education; prepare birth rooms and postpartum recovery areas.

Requirements
- Active RN license in the state of practice (California) or current eligibility expected to obtain licensure.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course from approved vendors.
- Ability to work nights on a 3x12 schedule and adapt to unit needs.
- Certification requirements aligned with AH policy; all listed credentials must be current and verifiable.
- Practical knowledge of obstetric nursing principles and safe patient care practices in a labor and delivery setting.
