The Registered RN is a professional care-giver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self.

Overview

The Surgical Care Unit (SCU), Short Procedure Unit (SPU), Same Day Surgery (SDS) and Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) are in Camden at the hospital on the second, third and fifth floors. First Pre-Admission Testing, located in 3 Cooper calls to review a patient's health information prior to a surgical procedure. Once approval for the recommended surgical procedure is finalized and patient information is reviewed the patient is provided with information on when and where to report. Once arrived and registered the patient is escorted to the appropriate location to be prepped for surgical procedure. These RN's prep the patient for the procedure. They review medical history, medical procedures and place an IV. Patients are met by Anesthesia and their Surgeon. Once everything is reviewed and verified the patient then goes to the OR.

Experience Required

2 years med surg required and periop op preferred

Education Requirements

Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing

License/Certification Requirements

Current NJ- RN License (Registered Nurse)

Current BLS (Basic Life Support)

Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Obtained within 3 months of hire date: Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Preferred: Current CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) or Current CPAN (Certified Perianesthesia Nurse)
