Cost AccountantAMETEK's Advanced Measurement Technology (AMT) business unit, within the Materials Analysis Division of AMETEK's Electronic Instruments Group, is seeking a hands-on Cost Accountant. This role supports operational and accounting activities, requiring strong organization, communication skills, and an understanding of manufacturing accounting.Key ResponsibilitiesCosting ActivitiesEnsure accurate product costing, including review of BOMs, overhead rates, and related componentsProvide cost analysis to support pricing reviewsPerform make vs. buy analysisLead the annual standard cost review processCoordinate the annual physical inventory in Oak Ridge and Athens sites and perform monthly cycle count spot checksCreate and monitor accounting for special projectsSupport Operations by developing and maintaining dashboards, metrics, and related reportingPlan, coordinate, and assist with reconciliation of cycle counts and physical inventoriesMaintain documentation of procedures performedIdentify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements and support implementationGeneral Ledger & Financial ActivitiesAssist with month-end close activities and preparation of monthly financial statementsSupport the implementation and maintenance of internal financial controls and proceduresPrepare and review account reconciliations to ensure accuracyPrepare and review journal entriesAssist with internal and external audit requestsEnsure adherence to corporate and divisional policies and proceduresPrepare ad hoc reports and analyses and communicate findings cross-functionallyRequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required. 3 to 5 years of relevant experience required. Experience in a manufacturing environment. Exposure to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. Experience with Oracle ERP systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.Strong analytical skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and writing abilities.
