Associate Consultant - Energy Talent

At most firms, you spend two years feeding a senior recruiter's pipeline before a client hears your name. Here, you're the one on the call. root/edge runs specialized desks in energy transition, power infrastructure, and grid modernization: interconnection, battery storage, transmission, data center power. You advise clients on what the market will actually bear for a role. You advise candidates on what a move is really worth. That's the job from month one.

root/edge is five experienced consultants based in Denver. You'll learn from the people around you every day. Bounce ideas off the partners. Get pulled onto pitches with them. Sit in on their client conversations.

We're also part of Meritaas Group, alongside Harba Solutions (life sciences), Goliath Partners (financial markets and AI), and Tempting Talent (executive search). Four firms, 75+ consultants combined, and growing, with offices in Denver, Indianapolis, Boston, and Miami. A boutique gets the training, tech stack, and back office of a much bigger firm. What you'll do

• Run a full or split desk in a specialized, high-demand market
• Talk to clients about hiring strategy, not just job specs: help them figure out what they actually need and whether their comp will land it
• Talk to candidates about their market value and their next move, not just the opening in front of them
• Source and engage passive candidates and manage the process through offer
• Build your book and your billings on what you close, drawing on Meritaas Group's shared tools and cross-brand market knowledge when it helps

What we're looking for

• 1+ years of agency recruitment (perm or contract), or 1-2 years in outbound sales generating leads, pitching, and closing, with real interest in a more consultative sales cycle
• Someone who wants to learn the sector and bill more because of it
• Coachable and driven; no engineering background required, but curiosity about a technical market is

Compensation

Base salary plus commission, up to 35% year 1, 40% year 2. No draw. Full benefits.
