Advanced Practice Provider II - PRN Cardiothoracic Surgery Job ID: 59472 Employment Type: Per Diem (Regular Employee) Location: 75 Arch St, Summit, Akron, OH 44304, US Salary: $54.89/hr - $77.20/hr (Base salary exclusive of bonuses or differentials) Summary: Develops and advances the quality of advanced practice through specialized direct patient care of complex/critically ill and/or intraoperative patients, leadership, consultation, education and research. Works to improve processes of care for patients. Ensures quality of patient care by utilizing established standards of care for the department and coordinating services with physicians, care managers, social workers, patient care coordinators, therapists and other community agencies as appropriate. Formal Education Required: Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant program, MPAS preferred, and have passed the national certification examination administered by the National Commission of Certification of Physicians Assistants; or Master’s Degree in Nursing with completion of an Advanced Practice program in the area of expertise and National certification as a CNP or CNS. If APRN, must be certified as an RN‑FA to assist in the OR. Experience & Training Required: Current license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse or physician assistant in the state of Ohio. Minimum one‑year experience as an advanced practice provider, preferred in an acute care setting. BLS certification. ACLS certification. Completion of Summa Health System Operating Room Orientation before assisting with surgical procedures. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications: Excellent communication, organization, self‑motivation, accuracy, and time management skills. Ability to read and interpret medical documents found in hospital, clinic or physician office environments. Ability to solve practical problems and manage diverse variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to provide necessary care of complex/critically ill and/or intraoperative patients as required by the position. Ability to work independently, prioritize work, and solve problems. Competency in Microsoft Office and all computer programs utilized by the practice. Ability to manage multiple projects. Demonstrated clear, effective communication both verbally and in writing. Maintenance of affiliated hospital privileges as an Allied Health Professional. Ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of professionals. Demonstrated flexibility to meet the ever‑changing needs of complex/critically ill and/or intraoperative patients and the healthcare team. Population specific competency: Ability to interact effectively with complex/critically ill and/or intraoperative patients/customers, respecting their dignity and self‑respect. Level of Physical Demands: Heavy: Exerts 50‑100 pounds of force occasionally, 25‑50 pounds frequently, or 10‑20 pounds continuously to move objects. Exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other hazardous conditions common to clinical environments. Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
