Foundry Laborer

Job Title

Job Responsibilities:

Can operate, clean, maintain and calibrate mixing machine according to instructions. Ability to perform and instruct others the proper way to prepare mold (strip, clean, prep, close, label, etc.). Complete understanding of runners, gates and venting for correct pattern setup and mold preparation. Proper mold making knowledge and ability to recognize problems that may cause quality issues. Can operate all furnaces, pouring devices, and equipment required to properly prepare metal for pouring

Properly labeling of each pattern to identify alloy to be poured (Bronze, 319 Aluminum, AlMag Aluminum)

Knowledge of "Shop Order" and specifications drawings in order to recognize discrepancies or errors

Ability to help problem solve mechanical issues in area

Can perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment in area

Ability to identify bottle necks in process and prioritize orders in order to meet ship dates

Keeps area clean of trash, tools and fixtures organized, routinely cleans/sweeps area after work complete

Knows all safety requirements and emergency plans

Can determine material requirements needed to complete job

Proper mold spraying techniques for bronze plaques, includes mixing of material

Knows the difference between scrap metal and re-usable metal, can properly sort materials

Knowledge of quality standards and control procedures in station area

Can properly de-gas aluminum alloys

Can use pyrometer to accurately measure temperature of metal

Understanding of sand system and mechanics in order to problem solve issues and prevent down time

Has been trained on Ban Saw and can operate safely, change blades, cut parts efficiently

Can maintain furnaces, change stools, patch/fix problem areas, coat skimmers, etc.

Can shakeout molds properly in order to avoid damage to hot castings and prepare molds for pouring

Skills and Requirements:

1 year of experience within the foundry setting.

Ability to stand for 8+ hours a day
