Job Title: Accounting Specialist (AP-Focused)

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Specialist with a focus on Accounts Payable for our client. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing accounts payable invoices, ensuring timely vendor payments, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable invoices and ensure timely vendor payments.
• Review, code, and enter approximately 30-40 invoices per week.
• Generate and distribute customer invoices based on consultant billing activity.
• Convert consultant invoices into accurate customer-facing invoices.
• Post and reconcile bank transactions within QuickBooks.
• Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end close activities and maintain accurate financial records.
• Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls.
• Analyze accounting transactions and identify discrepancies or potential issues.
• Prepare and maintain Excel-based reports, tracking schedules, and invoices.
• Serve as the primary accounting resource for the organization.
• Partner with company leadership to recommend process improvements and accounting best practices.
• Ensure data accuracy and compliance with company policies.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience.
• Strong experience with QuickBooks.
• Experience supporting both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs.
• Experience performing bank reconciliations and month-end accounting activities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Sole accounting or full-cycle accounting experience.
• Process improvement and accounting procedure development.
• Experience handling accounting functions with limited administrative support.
• Experience in a small business environment.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a similar field.

The work environment features an open office layout concept. The position offers a typical 9-5 schedule with the potential for flexible or hybrid arrangements once trust is established. The company is a startup experiencing significant growth, providing a dynamic and evolving workplace.

This is a Contract position based out of Livonia, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
