Summa Connect - Patient Access Operator

Responsibilities Assists callers and/or patients in way‑finding, appointment scheduling, pre‑service registration, insurance verification, co‑pay collection, physician referral, initial screening of patient signs/symptoms, class scheduling, and other questions or concerns. Performs patient information queries and answers general information questions, providing a high level of customer service that reflects positively on Summa Health. Minimum Qualifications Formal Education High school diploma or GED required. Post‑high school level coursework in healthcare, accounting, business, public relations or a related field. Experience and Training One (1) year of customer service or general office support experience, preferably in a contact or call center. Experience in Registration, Insurance Verification/Pre‑Certification, Financial counseling, or patient accounts is a plus. Ability to pass a typing test administered by Human Resources with a minimum of 25 WPM. Ability to pass a medical terminology exam administered by Human Resources. Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications Ability to effectively interact with patients/customers, respecting their dignity. Proficient keyboard use with high accuracy; familiar with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). Demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Can work well in a team and support team goals through constructive feedback. Highly motivated, able to work independently, make decisions, and perform in a fast‑paced, stressful environment.
