AP Certified Patient Care Technician - Acute Care Day Shift

This role involves delivering compassionate, routine patient care under the supervision of Registered Nurses, ensuring a positive and supportive environment for patients and staff alike.
Job Summary
As a Patient Care Technician, you will perform a variety of technical and direct care tasks including CPR, vital signs monitoring, telemetry support, EKG acquisition, wound care, phlebotomy, and assisting with patient mobility and personal hygiene. You will also support administrative duties such as documenting patient data, transcribing physician orders, and coordinating diagnostic tests.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care within the scope of a Certified Nursing Assistant license.
- Assist with patient transport, room preparation, and supply management.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Respond promptly to patient needs and emergency codes.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment following infection control protocols.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
- Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant program.
- One to two years of patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
- Telemetry experience is a plus.
Licenses and Certifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant (NA-C) license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Medical Assistant Phlebotomy certification preferred.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of patient care practices and ability to maintain required competencies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a caring attitude.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and medical equipment.
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry varying weights, stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks consistent with patient care duties.
Work Environment
This full-time position involves 12-hour shifts within a 40-hour workweek, providing care in a critical access hospital setting with a Level IV trauma designation in the Pacific Northwest region.
