Ultrasound Technologist Per Diem

Job Summary Ultrasound Technologists (Sonographers) are responsible for the administration of multi-frequency sound waves and other techniques for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. A sonographer performs sonographic imaging procedures and acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Ultrasound Technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of sonographic imaging procedures. Ultrasound Technologists prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy. Location and Hours Location: Geisinger Lewistown Hospital (GLH) | Shift: Rotation (United States of America) | Scheduled Weekly Hours: 0 | Worker Type: Regular | Exemption Status: No Responsibilities Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality. Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, maximize patient safety, and apply ALARA principles. Prepare and/or administer medications through vascular access sites as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, including post-processing when applicable. Educate and monitor students and other health care providers. Collaborate with a licensed practitioner in the performance of sonographic interventional procedures. Ensure equipment parameters for diagnostic and interventional procedures are of optimal technical and administrative quality. Perform diagnostic and interventional sonographic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner or during appropriate educational activities. Participate in modality quality or process improvement activities. Independently review symptoms and medical history to determine the correct exam for the patient. Evaluate orders and requests for procedures to assure correct scheduling of patient exams. Perform noninvasive vascular laboratory tests (if applicable). Independently provide preliminary interpretation of test results (if applicable), including disease level, incidental findings, results, outliers, contradictory and unexpected findings, urgency of care, and reporting to provider. Work in a clinical environment and be accountable for satisfying all job‑specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. Qualifications Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist (ARRT) as a sonographer or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) certification, along with Radiology ARDMS credential (prefer OB/GYN, ABD at a minimum). Additional certifications: ARDMS (RVT) or RVS for vascular; ARDMS (OB/GYN) for Maternal Fetal Medicine; ARDMS (AE) or CCI for Adult Echocardiography; ARDMS (PE) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) for Pediatric Echocardiography; ARDMS (RVT) or RVS for Vascular. Graduate from Specialty Training Program – Radiologic Technology (Required). Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study (Preferred). Minimum of 2 years of related work experience (Required). Basic Life Support Certification – Default Issuing Body. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) – ARDMS. Sonography (S) – ARRT.
