General Summary of Duties

Christie Clinic's department of Internal Medicine is seeking a full-time Scheduler/Receptionist at the Windsor clinic in Champaign from Monday-Friday 7:00am-4:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements. Duties include checking patients out and scheduling appointments/testing after their visit with their provider. The scheduler will also serve as a liaison between patients and medical support staff.

Job Qualifications and Expectations

JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)

• Greet patients and visitors in an efficient, professional, and courteous manner.
• Fill out radiology screening forms.
• Act as a liaison between Internal Medicine and other Christie Clinic departments to refer patients to specialized providers.
• Schedule/place orders for tests, labs, appointments, etc.
• Attend and participate in monthly department meetings.
• Schedule for incoming Nephrology referrals.
• Demonstrate the ability to promptly answer a high volume of phone calls and schedule patient appointments with providers.
• Accurately document conversations/requests from patients in the EMR and route appropriately.
• Verify and update necessary demographic information and insurance information.
• Maintain provider schedules.
• Contact patients in the event an appointment must be cancelled.
• Maintain an organized work area. (Filing patient orders, routers, etc.)
• Perform related work as required.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in the exam room and involves frequent contact with patients and exposure to communicable illnesses. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
