Check out our website to discover the Tenneco WayJob Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician Department: Maintenance Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor Location: Blacksburg, VA Job Summary: We are seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Industrial Maintenance Technician (Maintenance I /Master Mechanic) to support equipment reliability and facility operations within our manufacturing plant. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring minimal downtime and maximum equipment efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Perform routine and preventive maintenance on production equipment, machinery, and building systems. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues in a manufacturing environment. Repair or replace faulty components, such as motors, sensors, belts, gearboxes, and valves. Operate and maintain tools and diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, torque wrenches, and calipers. Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, schematics, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Support installation and set up of new machinery and equipment. Log maintenance activities and parts usage in the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System). Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and assist in minimizing production downtime. Collaborate with production and engineering teams to identify and resolve recurring issues. Ensure compliance with all safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), OSHA, and facility-specific protocols. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED required, vocational or technical training in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or a related field preferred. 2–5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment. Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, HVAC systems, and automated machinery is a plus. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Basic computer skills for entering maintenance records and reports. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work shift, weekends, and overtime as needed. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for up to 8–12 hours per shift Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, twist, reach and climb ladders for extended periods. Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds on a regular basis Frequent use of hands for gripping, handling, and operating equipment and tools Ability to visually inspect tools and equipment Ability to hear and respond to machine sounds, alarms, and verbal instructions Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, vibration, and varying temperatures Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) Why Join Us?
