Patient Transport Driver

The Patient Transport Driver ensures the safe and timely transport of non-emergent, non-urgent Midtown Health Center patients. This position will transport supplies and equipment to clinics and assist in stocking rooms and putting supplies away. The Patient Transport Driver will also greet and assist patients and visitors at Midtown Health Center clinics as directed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Transports patients to and from home to Midtown Health Center clinics via van service.
  2. Ensures patients are properly identified before transporting.
  3. Assists patients as they get in and out of vehicles and escorts or transports them to and from clinic lobbies.
  4. Approaches, greets, and offers assistance and direction to patients entering clinics.
  5. Demonstrates caring attitude and cultural sensitivity to patients.
  6. Ensures van is clean and working properly.
  7. Transports supplies and equipment by delivering them to assigned locations.
  8. Assists in the stocking room and putting supplies away at off-site clinics.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Duties 1 through 8 are designated as ADA Essential Functions and must be performed in this job. All other job duties are secondary functions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to efficiently carry out Midtown Health's Center mission statement and comply with its policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, co-workers, and the public and to be able to demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance to HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to comply with all occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills to address clinic's needs.
  • Ability to interpret oral and written instructions and do appropriate follow-up.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must have exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to constructively participate in quality improvement efforts.
  • Ability to actively participate in marketing and outreach activities when requested and emergency response events when required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and written skills highly desired.
  • Requires good verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of Norfolk, Madison, West Point and the rural areas served by Midtown Health Center.

Education and Experience, Licensure and Certification:

  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • One year of related work experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to utilize own transportation for work purposes.
