Job Summary The Statistician is responsible for conducting advanced statistical analyses, developing reproducible analytic workflows, and generating high‑quality data products that inform research, evaluation, and policy decisions. This position ensures timely analysis and interpretation of complex datasets to support evidence‑informed decision‑making and enhance understanding of population health trends. Working under the Program Manager for the Research and Evaluation Program, the Statistician collaborates with internal divisions and external partners to support research activities, fulfill data requests, and strengthen analytic capacity across the Administration. Major Duties And Responsibilities Serve as a subject matter expert in statistical methodologies and data processing, advising on best practices for statistical work processes across the organization. Conceive, plan, and lead studies evaluating the effectiveness of health and social programs, leveraging quantitative analysis to support program improvements. Identify and solve complex statistical problems, determining the most feasible approaches for resolution. Provide expert consultation to agency personnel on biostatistical and epidemiological methods, ensuring proper data evaluation and interpretation. Determine nature of statistical problems needing investigation and select appropriate solutions. Utilize professional expertise in automatic data processing and various software packages such as SPSS and SAS to ensure data quality and integrity, perform electronic file transfers and linkages, and produce statistical reports. Perform routine analysis of data for annual, quarterly, and monthly reports, and assist in preparing such reports. Recommend content, format, and dissemination methods for reports and publications. Develop and maintain statistical standards for reports and publications, evaluate methods used, and monitor dissemination. Establish and lead a data analysis group to collaborate with other agencies, statisticians, and program coordinators. Coordinate the application of biostatistical and epidemiological principles in health‑related program designs and evaluations. Qualifications And Education Degree: Minimum of 15 semester hours in statistics (or statistics within mathematics) plus 9 additional semester hours in related disciplines such as physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, engineering, or social sciences. Experience: Full range of professional statistical work including sampling, data collection and analysis, and application of techniques such as central tendency measures, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, correlation, analysis of variance, and significance tests. Licenses And Certification None required. Working Conditions/Environment Work is performed in an office setting.
